Where Can I Find A Piano Tuner?

How To Find A Piano Technician

You have probably said, "We've got to get our piano tuned but I don't know any tuners. I'm afraid, too, that I might get a bad one.
Where can I find a good piano tuner?
"

We've often heard people say they don't know how to find a piano technician. Strangely, there are lots of piano tuners spending big bucks on advertising so that people will know how to find them. Something isn't working right. Perhaps this will help the situation. To find a piano tuner, look in the yellow pages of your telephone book (or this web page.) It'll surprise you to see how many men and women are ready and waiting to service your piano. "But," you feel like asking, "Are all these people as well qualified as they seem?"

Probably, any of them would do an adequate job on your piano, but if you want a specific recommendation, ask a piano teacher. She/he has usually found a satisfactory tuner and will be glad to recommend that person to you.

Other people to ask are: the manager of a concert hall, the owner of a piano store, the choir director of your church, a night club owner, your school music director, etc.

Of course, the person who's in the best position to give you expert advice on finding a good tuner-is another piano tuner. He knows very well which ones are top technicians and which are just average. But, of course, if you ask him, you know what'll happen-he'll recommend himself! Naturally! Everyone believes in his own ability.
